Reflection for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

        The image stamped on a coin reveals both its origins and its value. Similarly, our heavenly Father has etched his own image on each of us, and placed an indescribable value on every human life.  Even though we may turn away from God in sin,  God never withdraws his image from us. Instead, through daily events and situations, God gives us opportunities to grow more and more into his image.  

 

        God wants to rebuild the walls of our faith;  his grace will protect us from worldly temptations and the lies of the devil.  He wants to bring complete healing to the broken areas of our lives and fill us with a divine love for everyone around us.  But it takes time to for the Holy Spirit to restore God’s image in us.  But the process must begin.

 

        Open your heart to the quiet inner working of the Holy Spirit.  Whenever you recognize his promptings in the course of this week, obey them. Welcome the Spirit into your heart so that he can look closely at your life and help you make repairs.  The Holy Spirit is the most wonderful friend you can have.  Let him fill you with his presence and fully awaken God’s image in you.  The end product is well worth it!
